Calle Toledo, Madrid
There’s this beautiful preservation of print in Madrid. Stands like these are placed around the city, as well as book fairs and streets lined with sellers throughout the year. It resonated with my old soul, and I was grateful to witness it before the looming technological wipe-out.
A bit of hope, however:
In spite of widespread, free wi-fi access in the metro and on city buses, from 2012-2013 at least, it was more common to see a physical book or publication in hand than an e-reader, and that was pretty wonderful.
